Free Shipping?

I heard on the news this morning that most people buy online things that include free shipping. Which of course is stupid. These companies are simply adding the cost of shipping into their cost. Part of that is because its easier for them. Trying to figure out rates is nothing but a headache. I know for me its easier to do it like that.  Trying to figure out the postage to Alaska from Tennessee is a nightmare. My advice is try and use as many flat rate boxes as possible. Even then it can be a tricky situation.

Black Friday Myth

The hype has started about Black Friday and all the sales and what great bargains that are out there. The truth is Black Friday has not been the busiest shopping day of the year for years. I get up at 4 a.m. because of my wife’s work schedule. There is no way I am doing that to go stand in some line and get trampled on.

While building my store it has amazed me how people are ripping people off especially on postage. I won’t do that. More and more I offer free shipping. It makes my life and everyone else’s easier. I had an employee of the Postal Service say that she has worked for them for 32 years and she doesn’t understand how it works.  Often I offer free shipping and send it priority.  Maybe that is a sign of old age. (http://stores.ebay.com/dealswithduke) I had an old-time fisherman give me this advice about fishing. “Keep it SImple”.  The really bad thing about Black Friday is that people are lulled into concept that they are getting a deal. In reality all they are getting is scammed!

There Is a Desk Somewhere?

With the start of my e-bay store I have acquired  a small army of little things that make me believe that they must be sitting on something? I think that thing is called my desk? So the goal for today is to go through all this stuff and put it up on my store. I need space and it sure would be nice to know what is under all of this stuff! Maybe there is a cool million hidden and then its “I gotta go”!. I suspect that is not the case. So I will most likely combine some of this stuff and put it on sale. I start digging around for stuff later today. Then again isn’t that how I lost my desk in the first place?

Similar lives (via I choose how I will spend the rest of my life)

Similar lives Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend. Albert Camus, 1913 – 1960 French author, journalist and philosopher Since I started blogging in March I have come across many people whom I like to call friends.  We may never meet in real life, but through our blogs we are sharing our lives, thoughts and feelings with each other.  It's great to see how many people have differe … Read More

Must We Bend Just Because We Can? (via The Water Witch’s Daughter)

Must We Bend Just Because We Can? Blessed are the hearts that can bend; they shall never be broken. ~Albert Camus We claim to be flexible. We generally go with the flow. We try not to be judgmental. Our hearts are open. We love. We hurt. We forgive. We accept. Well, most of the time. And when we can’t we beat ourselves up about it. We consider ourselves to be trees when it comes to bending. We sometimes bend willingly and other times when forced. We’re strong enough we can bend f … Read More

It Is Who You Know (via Susanthecoach’s Blog)

When I was growing up I often used to hear the phrase "its not what you know, its who you know that will get you results". And it was generally said in a kind of resentful way, as if there was something negative about it. The thing is, its neither a negative thing nor a positive thing. It just is. Its a universal law. A bit like gravity, its one of those things that we can choose to fight with, but we will always lose. So why not learn to make it … Read More
